Here, we will present only the questions and answers, which we consider the most important to acquaint you with our service, past and present.
Who are the founders?
Two brothers, Kalin Blaskoff and Nick Blaskov, are the founders of the free web hosting service of FateBack. They have developed the idea of what should be offered as a free service on FateBack.com. In the end of 1999, the two brothers with the help of three system administrators and two UNIX programmers have started working on the draft project for the free web hosting software. The two brothers were 18 and 24 years old respectively when they started what is currently a company with a team of over 40 employees from system administrators, programmers, web designers, customer support personnel, translators, financial and marketing specialists to a few journalists and an accountant. The total numbers of employees directly engaged in the company’s activities is over 40 by June 2004. The number of people indirectly engaged in the company’s activities is hard to specify.
How long has FateBack been offering free web hosting?
FateBack has officially launched its free web hosting service in September 2001.
Have there been any serious failures of the free web hosting service since 2001 to the present?
Yes, there have been a few. In the very beginning during 2001, there were a few serious problems, which lead to considerable downtime and serious overload of the servers. It was normal, because we were testing on practice a system that before this existed only theoretically.
In February 2003, we were close to losing the entire free service due to the bankruptcy of the company, which hosted our servers in its data center in New York. A week before the building was shut down by the police; we transferred all information to Host Centric’s data center in Fremont, California, where we initially started our development activities back in November 1999. As you can probably guess, we never got our servers back, but at least we saved the service. The total value of our servers in the data center in New York was over $30,000.00.
However, we learnt our lesson from this incident. We now host our servers only in data centers with years of proven experience, which usually are not very cheap. Our philosophy is that good quality should be paid respectively. This is exactly what we are doing with the Linux web hosting plans that we currently offer.
Who has developed the software for the free web hosting service?
This software is entirely our own development. Its development started back in November 1999.
Since when does FateBack offer paid hosting?
Since the middle of June 2004. The whole, long period that has passed since November 1999 to June 2004 was aimed at this – the launch of a high quality web hosting service tested over the years by hundreds of thousands of customers.
We can already say that we are 120% ready with what we have been developing for over five years now – a stable web hosting software and high quality customer support.
Who has developed the software for the paid web hosting service?
Both the free and the paid web hosting software are entirely our own development.
Why for almost three years has not FateBack offered a paid hosting service, but only a free one?
The paid web hosting software was not tested thoroughly enough for us to be able to say safely that this is the quality that we want to give to our potential and real customers. Everything has its time and now is the time for FateBack to offer paid hosting as well. We may be a little late, but we have achieved the high quality that we wanted. For us, not only wishes are important, but achievements as well!
Why should I choose FateBack’s web hosting service, instead of the service offered by a different web hosting company?
There are not many companies with only two priorities for their business similar to the priorities of FateBack.
Priority #1 – high quality fast 24/7 customer support.
Priority #2 – check priority #1!
The rest of the things are simply trivial: high quality and fast service, stable system, etc.

Do the pay hosting offers mean that the development of the free hosting service is over?
Absolutely not. We have very serious plans for a principally new type of free web hosting with which banners will not exists in any of the forms of display known so far (regardless of how popular it is). We simple do not have enough time and resources to realize the idea within a few months. One way or another we are engaged in at least two projects that are important for us – the free hosting service and the paid control panel. We develop high quality services and prefer to introduce them gradually. When time comes, we will introduce our revolutionary idea for a principally new type of web hosting service. When we do it, the free web hosting service will cease to exist, as we know it today. The same applies to the Internet marketing.
We apologize if what we have provided as an answer to this question sounds more or less unclear or incomplete, perhaps a bit like science fiction, but we simply have no choice. We cannot distribute our original ideas freely over the Internet to be used partially or completely by anyone who wishes to do so.

Do the paid hosting offers mean that the free service will cease to exist at a certain point in time?
No, of course, not! This is the basic concern of our customers during the past three years. The constant predictions of skeptic customers or unsuccessful individuals or companies, which have started to do business before or after us in the sector of free or paid web hosting services.
Why should they be worried, if for three years now, we have been one of the leaders in free web hosting services and in the next three years, we plan to become a leader in paid hosting services as well?
The expansion of the range of our activities means anything but closing of our business…

Are there monthly payments for the Linux hosting accounts available?
Yes. However, if you buy an annual subscription for the desired hosting plan you can receive free web templates, free domain name registrations, free website builder. Everything depends on which plan you will choose.
Is there any setup fee if I subscribe for monthly payments for the desired hosting plan?
No. We do not have any setup fees and do not plan to have any in the future. Carefully check the list of active services available with the hosting plan of your choice. Some services are included with specific plans, but are offered as an option for the rest of the plans.
What is the price difference if I pay for an account for a year ahead instead of paying each month?
Considerable. The discounts together with the bonuses that we offer vary between 10% for the cheaper plans and 35% for the more expensive plans.
Can I upgrade my free hosting account to some of the paid hosting packages?
Anytime. This is one of the ideas behind our paid service.
We will gladly offer you high quality and extremely functional hosting service for the respective subscription fee. It is not the most important thing for a service to be cheap. Price is definitely a decision making factor and we consider it, but functionality, system stability, high quality service and customer support cannot be achieved if the price is too low.
Be careful when you buy hosting services at extremely low prices. Eventually, you will conclude that you are not rich enough to buy cheap things, just as the English people have come to the same conclusion!
Can I upgrade a hosting account to a more expensive one, if I wish? Can I upgrade just a specific service?
You can do this anytime. As we have already mentioned, we have arranged everything to be able to take your money as fast and as convenient as we can and make you happy at the same time!
For your money, we will give you what you need.

Do I have unlimited access and complete freedom to change pages and information on my website anytime?
Unlimited means 24 hours a day. If this is what you understand by unlimited, then, of course, you can!
Can I run adult/pornographic Web sites on your server?
You cannot. Search for free adult hosting services in www.google.com. Our service is not suitable for this purpose.
What platform or Operating System (OS) does FateBack use?
Linux. Debian Linux. With Apache.
Does FateBack offer technical support 24 hours a day 7 days a week?
Yes. Professional customer support 24/7. For the paid service, we guarantee a maximum response time of 1 hour. This is our official guarantee.
However, the actual response time is between 15 and 25 minutes!
How do I reach technical support?
Through the hosting control panel, regardless whether you use a free or a paid hosting plan.
We have a special Help Center for this purpose. Do not forget to mark how satisfied you were with the customer support that you have received from our team. A one to five scale is used for this purpose. Five points stand for maximum satisfaction.

Yes. We have such plans. We are currently preparing Helm Control Panel for this purpose. We hope to launch this additional service officially by the end of 2004.
The Windows hosting control panel will not be our own development. Anyhow, there are other good companies, which make good hosting software and we will initially use their quality products.
