The domain name registrar and Web hosting provider Go Daddy (www.godaddy.com) announced on May 17 that its Secure Certificate sales for April 2005 exhibited a 20% increase in market penetration from the prior month according to Netcraft (www.netcraft.com), the authority on market share for hosting, encrypted transactions and e-commerce. Moreover, in less than a year since entering the Secure Certificate market, Go Daddy has grown to become the fourth largest group provider of Secure Certificates worldwide, and at its current growth rate, will become the third largest group provider before the end of 2005.
The data center operator Digital Realty Trust (www.digitalrealtytrust.com) announced on May 16 that it has launched five new data center facilities to meet the growing demand for enterprise application hosting. Facilities in Dallas, Los Angeles and San Francisco are currently operating. A facility in Miami will become operational this month and another facility will open in New Jersey in July. Digital Realty Trust also announced plans to open facilities in Santa Clara and Philadelphia. A facility in Chicago is pending the completion of an acquisition.
The Web hosting automation software developer Ensim (www.ensim.com) announced on May 16 that TELUS (www.telus.com) has selected Ensim Unify as the hosting automation platform for its new hosted messaging and collaboration offering based on Microsoft Exchange and Windows SharePoint Services. Prior to deploying Ensim, TELUS used an in-house solution.
The dedicated server solutions provider SuperbServers.Net (www.superbservers.net), a subsidiary of the managed Web hosting and e-commerce solutions provider Superb Internet Corporation, announced on May 16 that the company has launched the latest version of the SuperbServers.Net website. The design and layout of the site makes it easier for customers to define and order the perfect server for them. To celebrate the site’s launch SuperbServers.Net is waiving set up fees, offering a 15% price discount, and including one free month of service with all new Standard Server orders until May 31, 2005.
HostingOn.com (www.hostingon.com) announced on May 16 new improvements added to its Web Hosting Control Panel, which is now available in Russian, Ukrainian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and French, in addition to English, German, Spanish, and Bulgarian. A new theme has been added to the Control Panel as well. The new theme is available in green, blue, sky blue, red and orange. Users can change the theme and its color from the “Change Theme” button, through the “Account Profile” drop-down menu or through the “Change Control Panel Theme” link in the lower part of the Control Panel homepage.
The software giant Microsoft Corp. (www.microsoft.com) announced on May 17 the Microsoft Solution for Windows-based Hosting Version 3.5, which incorporates new tools and best practices designed to help hosting service providers significantly lower operational costs through improved site density and better management capabilities. Targeted primarily at service providers that offer shared Web hosting or discount dedicated server hosting, the latest version of the Microsoft Solution for Windows-based Hosting also introduces Web Site Starters for Windows, a set of development partner and community applications including integrated website building, blogging, forums and photo-sharing applications optimized to run in a Windows-based hosted environment. Using key products from the Microsoft Windows Server System, the solution offers hosting providers the best practices, tools, scripts and code samples to help them efficiently deploy and operate their hosted offerings on the Windows platform.
The Web hosting and design provider SilverServers Inc. (www.silverservers.com) announced on May 16 that SilverServers Inc. and Unibyte Online Inc. (www.unibyte.com) signed a deal merging the hosting and design operations of Unibyte Online with SilverServers. Customers currently hosted by Unibyte will be migrated into the SilverLeaf Billing Administration software built by SilverServers, which is currently being upgraded to integrate the new SilverServers Control Panel software.
WebSiteAllies.com (www.websiteallies.com) announced on May 16 that it is offering free Web hosting with features and services traditionally reserved for paid hosting, allowing customers to use their own domain name, as well as offering customer support. The customer support includes a 24 hour live chat, a customer support ticketing system and Web forum monitoring.
The Web hosting provider Re-invent Technologies LLC (www.re-invent.com), which is an official ASP.NET host in the Microsoft ASP.NET Hosting Advantage Program, announced on May 16 the launch of its ASP.NET 2.0 Beta 2 hosting plan, which is available as an optional free add-on to all existing Re-invent Web hosting customers and to non-customers at $5.00 per month. ASP.NET is a programming framework built on the common language runtime and can be used on a Web server to run powerful Web applications.
The Web hosting provider Okie Net (www.okie.net) announced on May 16 that it is offering free setup on their Web hosting plans. Okie Net also has introduced a $2.99 Web hosting plan for starters and domain name registration from $9.99 per year.
