The Web hosting automation software developer SWsoft (www.sw-soft.com) announced on April 19 that its server virtualization technology Virtuozzo has been updated to support 64-bit AMD and Intel servers. The update will be available in the summer of 2005. Virtuozzo, available for both Windows and Linux, partitions a single server into multiple virtual servers that perform and behave exactly like stand-alone dedicated servers.
The data center automation software developer BladeLogic (www.bladelogic.com) announced on April 19 that the European IT services provider Computacenter (www.computacenter.com) has joined its reseller program. According to the agreement, Computacenter will resell BladeLogic’s flagship Operations Manager system to its customers in Europe and provide implementation and consulting services to BladeLogic customers. BladeLogic Operations Manager automates data center management processes, including server and software provisioning, application change management, remote administration, and ongoing patch and compliance management.
The Web hosting provider EDS (www.eds.com) announced on April 19 that it has signed a three-year deal with the horse racing venue operator Churchill Downs (www.churchilldowns.com) to host its customer relationship management system, ticketing, website network, analytical, campaign management and events planning applications.
The ASP.NET Web hosting and SQL hosting provider DiscountASP.NET (www.discountasp.net) announced on April 20 the launch of ASP.NET 2.0 Beta Hosting. A free ASP.NET 2.0 Beta 2 hosting test account is available as an optional add-on to all DiscountASP.NET Web hosting customers.
Amazon.com (www.amazon.com) announced on April 19 that the newly launched Amazon Services Europe has signed a deal to provide e-commerce technology and Web hosting services to the UK clothier Marks & Spencer (www.marksandspencer.com). Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The managed hosting provider Verio (www.verio.com) announced on April 19 that it will host an online sourcing marketplace for the apparel and textile industry provider Source Global On-Demand (www.sourcego.com) to facilitate and expedite sourcing transactions and tracking for companies in the textile, apparel and home furnishings industries in China and throughout the world. Verio worked closely with SourceGO to develop a complex architecture comprised of multiple dedicated high-end application servers and a managed firewall. A dedicated online SQL server operates SourceGO's vast and complex database of textile and apparel variations, including massive files of drawings and technical information.
The Web hosting provider Covad Communications (www.covad.com) announced on April 19 that it received an award during The Cisco Partner Summit 2005 (www.cisco.com/warp/public/689/partnersummit/ps05/) recognizing Covad as the Service Provider Innovation winner for 2004. The award for 2004 Service Provider Innovation was based on a number of factors, including the delivery of new, creative services to the market that differentiate both Cisco and the partner, creating scalable best practices and building a partnership with Cisco that is in synch with Cisco's overall channel strategy.

Dendrite International (www.dendrite.com), a Web hosting provider for the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries, announced on April 18 that Pilbara Group (www.pilbaragroup.com) has selected it to provide managed hosting services. Pilbara, which is a management consultancy and software development firm, is one the first clients outside of the life science industry to employ Dendrite’s services. According to the deal, Dendrite will provide hosting services in addition to storage solutions, data cleansing and retrieval and analysis of data.
