Kelly Britt, owner and founder of “Need a Dot Com?” announced that he has launched the website www.KellyBritt.com, intended to present him as a candidate for winning in the next season of NBC’s reality show “The Apprentice”. Britt believes that as the owner of a successful web hosting company he has the energy, enthusiasm and character that Donald Trump is looking for in the next Apprentice. Sam Solveny, one of the participants in the first season of the show, after reviewing Britt’s website and audition tape wrote that Britt had the personality to go far.
Britt says that he built the website to stress on his ability to act on an opportunity before anyone else. This is not a new talent for him. Prior to the dotcom boom, Britt bought www.autos.com domain name for $35.00 and ended up selling it later for $2.2 million. He saw investments in the Internet as another challenge, regardless of the discouragement he received from others. “Need a Dot Com?” is the most successful of the several web hosting companies that Britt owns.
According to Britt, being selected the next Apprentice is not just about jumping up and down and waving signs in a line, but about showing creative ways to overcome challenges as ethically as possible. Many corporate leaders today face the challenge of making ethical decisions. Britt appears to be a person who is not afraid of bringing strong ethics into the workplace. Besides starting the meetings of “Need a Dot Com?” with a prayer, he participates in community services such as prison ministries. He is also a sponsor of underprivileged children and adults in YMCA programs.
Britt realizes that his website may provoke criticism, but he believes that the website would get beyond the hype surrounding the shoe and present him as a real and viable candidate.
As Donald Trump noted in Season One of The Apprentice, those candidates who took risks were the winners of challenges.
