Internet Data & Storage Systems Inc., a provider of hosted services, announced the release of a new version of its iareaMessenger, messaging service, which is based on unified communications software from Interactive Intelligence Inc. The service is a part of Internet Data & Storage Systems' patent-pending iareanet network, which is built for small and medium-sized enterprises, which want to use an established hosted communications application to increase productivity, minimize initial costs, eliminate infrastructure maintenance and reinforce disaster recovery capabilities.
iareaMessenger service is powered by Interactive Intelligence's Communite application, which provides features like unified messaging, faxing, presence management, call forwarding and instant messaging. The service is now based on the latest version of Communite, provides access to messaging on wireless PDAs, and allows users to make personal group distribution lists. In addition, it is simpler to use and offers voice mail messaging from different systems on the web. Internet Data & Storage Systems replaced an existing proprietary messaging product with Communite in January 2001.
James deCrescenzo, president of Internet Data & Storage Systems, said that the company reviewed several products, but wanted a more open, web-based solution that was simple to customize and would not require a separate, hardware-based PBX. He added that Communite suited the company’s needs, because it provided a reliable, standards-based architecture with built-in switching capability and came with a graphical application generator that allowed for virtually unlimited in house customization.
iareaMessenger currently has nearly 100 users, including legal and web service companies and organizations with remote and mobile workers. Dr. Donald E. Brown, president and CEO of Interactive Intelligence, said that in addition to its wide range of features, iareaMessenger maximized savings connected with hosted services by capitalizing on Communite’s unique all-in-one architecture, which required fewer devices to install and maintain compared to traditional messaging solutions.
iareaMessenger is available as a separate service or as a part of iareaOffice “The Lawyer”, a service package for law officers, which offers safe mobile access to phone calls, voice mail, e-mail and desktop files. The package also includes case management tracking capabilities and document assembly software. It provides law companies a complete, vertically integrated communications solution created to increase productivity, lower costs and improve customer service.
