Opsware (www.opsware.com), a developer of data center automation software, announced on October 5, 2004 that a leading New York-based media company has chosen its software to automate and centralize its operations, which use a significant number of servers and applications in different data c. HP Services, which signed a partnership agreement with Opsware in 2003, help the company win the contract. According to Opsware, the media company, whose name was not disclosed, had annual revenues of $3 billion and was searching for a solution to standardize the management of its servers and applications with the intention of reducing overall operational costs. In addition, the company requested a disaster recovery solution. Opsware was chosen following a comprehensive technical evaluation.
Ben Horowitz, president and CEO of Opsware, said that leading media and entertainment companies understood the impact efficient IT operations could have on their business. He added that the Opsware System allowed the company’s media customers to increase visibility into their IT environments and deliver reliable and superior service to their customers.
