Heart Internet (www.heartinternet.co.uk), a web hosting provider based in the UK, announced on May 27, 2004 that will introduce a free web hosting service on June 1, 2004. The company said that the free web hosting service would not require an additional purchase and would come without any other obligations. According to the company, customers could transfer .co.uk domains from their current providers to Heart Internet without incurring any charges.
Tim Beresford, director of Heart Internet, said that there were many people putting off the transition of putting their business online because of the setup costs. He noted that Heart Internet has removed a significant barrier for them. Beresford added that the free accounts would come with 2500MB of web space and 1000 e-mail accounts, which was more than most paid-for services offered.
Heart Internet was established by Jonathan Brealey and Tim Beresford, former directors of the web hosting provider Host Europe (www.hosteurope.com). Pipex Communications (www.pipex.net) recently acquired Host Europe.
