SimpleNet (simplenet.com), a provider of web hosting, domain management, email, and data center services, announced the comparatively harmless status of its facilities after the 5.3-magnitude earthquake that shook the San Diego region on June, 16th. The only damage noticed was indirect - the huge jump in bandwidth due to the bursting number of people turning to SimpleNet's news-related colocation customers for information on the disaster.
With regard to the moderate earthquake whose epicenter was off the coastline, SimpleNet is glad to place special emphasis on the fact that its data center was robust enough to survive the natural calamity. The provider also added that this was not a sheer luck because it had consciously evaluated the quality of the equipment so that it could resist to such unexpected circumstances.
