BayMountain (baymountain.com), a managed web hosting and colocation provider, announced to have signed a deal for leasing a data center facility located in Richmond, Virginia. The deal is reported to be valid for a multi-year period of time.
The new Tier-1 data center is 15,000 square foot in terms of area. It incorporates dual gigabit access to multiple OC-48 Internet backbone connections, four 500kVA UPS units, a 2MW Caterpillar diesel generator, automatic switching gear. The facility is provided with 300 tons of environmental conditioning, internal and external security cameras, dual biometric hand scanners with a mantrap, locked cabinets and cages for equipment and a 24/7 process of monitoring and management.
Through the newly-contracted facility bayMountain is expected to provide the regions of Central Virginia and Tidewater with a high-class local data center and hosting company that are comparable to premier facilities in Washington, DC or Raleigh, North Carolina, according to Gene Wahnefried, CEO of bayMountain.
