The security provider netZentry (www.netzentry.com) announced on May 17 that its FloodGuard technology has been selected by the Web hosting provider 1-800-HOSTING (www.800hosting.com) to detect, track and migrate attacks for the company. FloodGuard was chosen after a four-month period, during which various IPS and IDS vendors were considered. FloodGuard was the only NDS vendor evaluated.
Chris Shaffer, director of network services for 1-800-HOSTING, said that netZentry's FloodGuard technology has given 1-800-HOSTING the power to effectively control and mitigate DDOS attacks in a more efficient manner than was previously available by using traditional reactive measures, that instead of allowing malicious traffic to enter 1-800-HOSTING’s network, it is now filtered at 1-800-HOSTING’s border with minimal to no interaction required on 1-800-HOSTING’s part, and that 1-800-HOSTING is now able to maintain 100 percent network availability during these attacks while also protecting its customers individually by tailoring the product to meet their specific needs.
