VeriCenter (www.vericenter.com), a managed hosting provider has signed a contract with TeleDerm Solutions to host and manage TeleDerm’s telemedicine online application and its supporting IT infrastructure, the companies announced on March 16, 2004.
TeleDerm Solutions provides dermatology consultations for physicians, healthcare organizations and patients. Family physicians make preliminary diagnoses that are sent through TeleDerm to a licensed dermatologist who examines the case and sends a response to the referring physician. According to TeleDerm, the company’s application helps to provide access to dermatologists to locations where such access is not readily available.
Hon Pak, chairman and chief medical officer of TeleDerm Solutions, said that the company’s primary concern was to deliver timely service to patients and the company’s many providers who required the highest possible levels of privacy. Pak added that TeleDerm researched several managed hosting providers across the USA and found that VeriCenter to be the best equipped to meet TeleDerm’s requirements to keep the company’s application running round-the-clock.
Earlier this year, VeriCenter, which is based in Texas, acquired some assets of Sprint’s managed hosting business, including four data center facilities in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas and Denver.
VeriCenter provides hosting for NASA websites, which cover the recent mission to Mars.
