Equinix Inc. (www.equinix.com), a provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, announced on July 19, 2004 that United Online (www.untd.com), a provider of consumer Internet subscription services, has chosen an Equinix Internet Business Exchange center for its new data center. According to Equinix, its data centers give customers the opportunity to manage their network infrastructure by offering high performance with instant access to a large concentration of networks that connect their end-users to Internet and e-mail content. Using Equinix Direct service, United Online will be able to diversify their IP connections to many network providers easily.
Peter Van Camp, CEO of Equinix, said that United Online through its NetZero and Juno subsidiaries required a high-performance connectivity infrastructure that ensured the fastest and the most reliable interconnections with other networks. He added that United Online was an important new participant in the IBX as they joined other leading service provider that had selected Equinix as an interconnection hub.
