Hizbullah, a Lebanese guerilla group, informed Reuters on August 12, 2004 that two of its websites have been closed in the past week by web hosting providers in the United Kingdom and the United States. The two websites in question are www.hizbullah.org and www.hizbullah.tv. The UK and the USA claim that Hizbullah participates in terrorist activities and list the organization on their terrorist group watch lists.
A representative of Hizbullah maintaining the websites informed Reuters that the sites were closed due to accusations related to terrorism. The representative did not disclose the names of the companies hosting the sites. Hizbullah, which is supported by Jordan and Syria, backs the Palestinian independence movement.
