Hewlett-Packard (www.hp.com) announced on July 14, 2004 that it has signed a five-year outsourcing agreement worth $112 million with MCI (www.mci.com), a web hosting and Internet services provider. According to the contract, HP Service would provide daily technical support services to MCI employees in 600 sites across the USA. Hewlett-Packard will also provide remote server management and asset management services. Under a separate five-year contract worth $125 million, MCI will deliver communications services to Hewlett-Packard, including secure Internet remote access services, improved customer contact center services and Skytel wireless paging and messaging services.
Fred Briggs, president of operations and technology for MCI, said that Hewlett-Packard’s leadership and expertise delivering quality desktop support services would enable MCI to improve performance for its employees while focusing MCI resources on its core business. He added that this new agreement and MCI’s selection as one of Hewlett-Packard’s selected communications providers extended MCI’s longstanding relationship with Hewlett-Packard and created a strategic foundation for both companies to work more closely together in the future.
