FiberCloud (www.fibercloud.com), a co-location provider, has bought Compass Communications (www.ccom.net), a web hosting, co-location and Internet access provider. FiberCloud manages data centers in Bellingham and Everett, Washington, while Compass Communications is located in Seattle. According to the deal, FiberCloud will take control over Compass’ data center in the Westin building in Seattle, which accommodates an Internet hub as well. In addition, FiberCloud will assume control over a data center in Spokane, Washington. Financial details of the contract were not revealed.
George Henry, president of FiberCloud, said that the presence in Seattle gave the company a significant footprint in the core center of the region and gave Compass’ customers the opportunity of having off-site servers in Bellingham and Everett. Henry continued to say that several customers in Seattle had already asked about setting up backup and disaster recovery solutions in FiberCloud’s data centers in Bellingham and Everett.
