FatCow (www.fatcow.com), a web hosting provider, announced on May 13, 2004 that it has installed the Brightmail anti-spam filtering software across its system. The company said that the anti-spam filtering is offered free of charge to its 28,000 customers. The anti-spam filtering software has identified 200 million spam e-mails since its installation.
Jackie Fewell, CEO of FatCow, said that the deployment of Brightmail anti-spam filtering solution represented a major victory for the company and its customers in the war against spam. He noted that FatCow wanted to ensure that the company not only provided its customers free spam protection regardless of cost, but also gave them the best solution the industry had to offer. Fewell added that the combination of Brightmail’s anti-spam software and a dedicated hardware mail gateway was the answer.
Todd Hassan, chief technical officer of FatCow, said that the company sought a very customer friendly solution, which would smoothly combine with the company’s powerful, easy to use hosting product and provide the most flexibility and control with the fewest false positives. He added that the company’s mail gateway effectively allowed the company to improve and centralize its overall mail handling while providing greater system-wide server performance and security on a more effective anti-spam management platform.
