Sky Financial Group announced on June 1, 2004 that its subsidiary Sky Access, an Internet service provider, would transfer its subscriber base to EarthLink (www.earthlink.net), an Internet service provider, and its subsidiary PeoplePC, a provider of high-quality, value-priced Internet services. All Sky Access dial-up clients will get a welcome kit from EarthLink or PeoplePC, depending on their current service plans.
Subscribers transferred to EarthLink will use the company’s fast and reliable dial-up service with the most access numbers nationwide. The service comes with TotalAccess 2004, which provides features such as spamBlocker, Pop-Up Blocker, Accelerator and Spyware Blocker. All of the tolls are intended to keep the online interruptions to a minimum.
Subscribers transferred to PeoplePC Online will have unlimited nationwide access to over 9,000 local dial-up numbers and proprietary Smart Dialer technology that automatically offers the number of the fastest, most reliable and highest-quality Internet connection in the area. Subscribers will also get Virus Blocker and Site Builder to allow them to create their own websites with some of PeoplePC Online’s plans.
The commercial clients of Sky Access who use web hosting and other network services provided by the company will be able to transfer these services to EarthLink. The transfer will be completed early in the third quarter of the year.
