C I Host (www.cihost.com), a web hosting provider, announced on July 8, 2004 that it has laid a private, dual-path fiber optic cable from the Metroplex global bandwidth hub to the companya€™s facility in Bedford, Texas. The dual-path cable will guarantee redundancy of the a€œlast milea€ of underground fiber. In addition, the company has also increased its network capacity to 5 Gbits by partnering for bandwidth with Aleron, Broadwing Communications, Cogent Systems, Level 3 Communications and Teleglobe.
Christopher Faulkner, CEO of C I Host, said that most hosting companies depended on competitive local exchange carriers for the last mile of local loop connectivity. He noted that with a redundant POP, C I Host safeguarded its customers. Faulkner stated that the company could add enterprise level customers instantly with this bandwidth and its own cable. He said that C I Host has far surpassed the industry standard. Faulkner added that the company could turn up any amount of bandwidth that its customers needed.
