The Christian Web portal Crossmap.net (www.crossmap.net) announced on March 16 that it will give away free Web hosting accounts to the first 10 000 customers who sign up. Crossmap.net hopes that the promotion will prompt those considering building websites to do so, helping to get thousands of Christians online. Each free account comes with one year of hosting.
Each account comes with Cpanel, 70 MB of storage, 1 GB transfer, MySQL databases, POP3 email accounts, FTP accounts, and free technical support. Similar packages on other Christian hosting sites typically cost $10-20 per month. In addition, accounts come with access to Crossmap.net’s church website template section, free support via forums, help tickets and email, and free script installation if necessary. The entire free hosting package with support is valued at over $100.
The promotion is scheduled to run through the end of April, but may be cancelled sooner if the 10 000-account quota is filled. A count of the remaining accounts is kept on the Crossmap.net homepage. Interested parties can sign up for the offer at www.crossmap.net/freehosting.htm.
