According to The Worldwide Organization of Webmasters, the Iron Chef of Web Design competition will take place July 14 in Boston. The event will be a part
of this summer’s Macworld show. It will demonstrate a wide range of premier Web designers, Webmasters and Web design firms while creating a functional Web
site for a non-profit organization. The special emphasis will be placed on the client-side needs: visual design, markup and style.
The participants in the contest will be competing teams comprised of three designers and developers. They will be engaged in identifying the key needs of
nonprofits, creating a visual design for the site, including graphics and navigation, rendering three to five pages of content in HTML, adding any specialty features in compliance with the time restriction, and addressing a specific web design challenge pre-conceived by the judges.
The main requirements regarding the participants include: the provision of equipment and software on behalf of each team, the usage of popular design and
development tools only such as Adobe Photoshop, a text editor and an HTML visual editor, no assistance by any external or third-party resources.
The event will begin at 10 a.m as every working team will have less than five hours to complete the task. At the end of that time, each participating team
will have to describe to the judges their concepts and shed light on the rationale for the design approach taken. The winner will be declared at 4:30 p.m.
