At the recently-held contest of the Society for News Design new media (SND), an event that recognizes innovative and high-quality web design achievements in
terms of online journalism, The South Florida Sun-Sentinel firm triumphed as the most awarded creator of valuable online publications. The Sun-Sentinel news
graphics staff won a silver and three bronze awards for their proficient work over the company's Web site - http://www.sun-sentinel.com/.
The Sun-Sentinel Web site was highly evaluated by judges who adjudged high positions to four of the site's publications. The company was honoured with a silver award in the non-breaking news category for "Marine Attractions: Below the Surface". The key factors for this recognition was the creativeness of design for data display, as well as the availability of multiple elements of complicated investigative nature. The other three web publication that were awarded getting bronze design awards were "Haiti: The Eroding Nation," "East Boynton Little League All-Stars" and "Remembering D-Day."
Patronized by the University of Denver's Estlow International Center for Journalism and New Media, the Society for News Design new media competition gives a great impetus to its laureates by providing recognition of high expertise level. The other three web sites that also got numerous awards were the ones of El Mundo, USA Today and The New York Times.
