Iomart, a Glasgow-based company specializing in two key directions: web services such as web site design, hosting and domain name management, and security software for employers, reported the considerable increase in the value of its shares. This change is attributed to the recently-established agreement of the company with BT.
Under the newly-established deal, Iomart is expected to provide its new partner with the e-mail filter element of its Netintelligence package. The solution is
used to block viruses and spam while enabling employers to monitor e-mail systems. The Netintelligence package will be sold on a monthly basis by means of
subscription.
According to Iomart's chief executive - Angus MacSween, this initial contact of the company with BT represents an important validation of Iomart's technology
and its marketing-leading capabilities. He adds that BT have a substantial base of customers who would use Netintelligence but it is presently hard to predict
the amount of revenue that the BT deal will generate for the company.
Currently, the company has the capacity of 40,000 web services customers whose number marks the rhythmic increase by over 1000 customers per month. In
consequence of the BT agreement, yesterday Iomart's shares rose from 2.25p to 56.5p.
