Autodesk’s DWF technology (www.autodesk.com/dwf), an open format for sharing and collaborating with design data, will be significantly popularized among the CAD community after the company signed an agreement with Informative Graphics Corp. (IGC), premier developer of commercial software products for content visualization, web publishing and collaboration. Through this initiative, IGC will support the Autodesk DWF™ (Design Web Format™) file format in its Brava product lines (www.bravaviewer.com/download.htm), thus scaling up their value. Another clause of the agreement is the joint support for the new 3D extension to DWF in IGC's MYRIAD® and free ModelPress applications.
Through the newly-agreed support for the Autodesk DWF technology, Informative Graphics Corp. adds innovative 3D value to its offering, thus making the
compact format accessible to the CAD community, where IGC sets a new industry standard for the efficient sharing of CAD content. The technology will very
efficiently add to the company's support for various native, standard and published CAD and non-CAD file formats in a common user interface such as:
Autodesk DWG, DXF, TIFF, PDF, CGM, MS Office etc.
DWF file formats can be viewed and printed with the free Autodesk® DWF™ Viewer, and marked up through the Autodesk® DWF™ Composer. They can accommodate huge
amounts of compressed data, featuring an open architecture which enables its publishing by many different design applications and read by third party
applications. The compact format puts control in the hands of designers, enabling them to specify the design components to protect the integrity of original data. Providing lengthy review cycle, DWF cuts down the workflow costs and fosters the elimination of production-related expenses.
