Netimperative (www.netimperative.com) announced on February 7 that the mobile operator Vodafone (www.vodafone.com) has inked a deal with Fast Web Media, a UK-based operating company wholly owned by Total Sports Online ASA (www.totalsportsonline.com), to sponsor its football specific search site Megasoccer.com (http://megasoccer.com). The deal will see the Vodafone live! brand incorporated into a redesigned Megasoccer.com, with special promotions and offers displayed on every page of the site.
The sponsorship is due to start in early February 2005, when the new-look Megasoccer.com in association with Vodafone goes live. Launched in early 2004, Megasoccer is built around an index of more than 6000 soccer web sites, with more than 1.5 million documents relating to soccer available.
Michael Flynn, CEO of Fast Web Media, said that Vodafone has always been at the forefront of technical innovation and that their decision to sponsor Megasoccer, the web’s first football specific search engine, further highlights this.
