Apple Computer's marketing chief Phil Schiller unveiled the newest version of the popular iMac at the Apple Expo in Paris on August 31, which, at five centimetres, is the world's thinnest desktop computer.
Worldwide distribution of the new iMac will begin in mid-September – a few months ahead of the Mac OS X "Tiger" operating system, which contains 150 new applications and should be available in early 2005. Its search engine will be at the center of the new system, allowing users to quickly find documents among the thousands of files the hard drive is capable of stocking.
