Options on Google will debut on U.S. options exchanges on August 27 under a new streamlined listing procedure. The listing of Google options comes after Google shares made their Nasdaq stock debut on August 19.
In the past, a newly listed stock had to trade for months before options could be offered on it, but Google options will debut under new rules that have shortened that waiting period to as little as seven days after a stock launch, if the listing criteria devised by the exchanges are met.
The Chicago Board Options Exchange was the first to announce it would offer options on Google on August 27 pending satisfaction of initial listing criteria. The American Stock Exchange, the Philadelphia Stock Exchange, the Pacific Exchange and the electronic International Securities Exchange then said they would also list the options on August 27.
