The software giant Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) announced on February 4 that it has officially launched its new search engine http://search.msn.com several months after its test debut. The engine is set to replace the Yahoo technology that has been used on Microsoft's MSN Web site (www.msn.com). However, Yahoo will still be used for the paid listings that appear alongside search results.
Microsoft has worked to create a proprietary search engine in order to compete with rivals such as Google (www.google.com). The software giant will be ridding its MSN Web site of text advertisements and other materials, claiming that the new site will load up to 50 percent faster and will be much easier to navigate. The Web site will still feature ads and provide links to news, gossip and other Microsoft businesses, however.
