Mesa Dynamics, LLC (www.mesadynamics.com), a privately held software development company specializing in innovative technologies for text and image data mining, digital asset repurposing and image processing, announced on November 15 the release of Beholder 2.0, a significant upgrade to its Internet image searching utility for the Macintosh. Beholder searches for images on the web, automatically querying Internet search engines and presenting thumbnail results in a navigable contact sheet with URL and other link details. Designed for quick image inspection and discovery, Beholder also supports targeted Internet searches via the scanning of specific web pages and folders for images.
Beholder 2.0 features improved handling of large thumbnail collections, including link verification for rapid confirmation of accessibility of source images and direct image downloading. Additional features include QuickOpen thumbnail navigation, image zoom and a new XML search engine plug-in format. A trial version of Beholder is available for download at www.mesadynamics.com and requires Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) or later. A single user license of Beholder is available for $19.95. A basic version of the application, Beholder Lite, is available free of cost.
