According to the Forbes magazine (www.forbes.com), Bill Gates, founder of software giant Microsoft, continues to be the richest man in America for the eleventh year in a row. Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen is at number three and computer maker Michael Dell is at number nine in the Top 400 list, which will be published in October.
Sergey Brin and Larry Page, the founders of the Google search engine, make the 400 for the first time after their company's stock went public in August. The youngest people on the list, the two are tied at number 43 with $4 billion each.
The combined net worth of the Top 400 is $1 trillion, $45 billion more than last year. The magazine said the rise is due to an improving global economy.
