EarthLink (www.earthlink.net), an Internet service provider, announced on October 8 the launch of its anti-phishing site application, ScamBlocker. The free browser-based toolbar provides complete real-time protection from online fraud and identity theft. EarthLink toolbar comes equipped with a Google-powered search engine as well as Pop-Up Blocker and SpyAudit.
Matt Cobb, EarthLink's vice president of core applications, said that as professional criminals threaten to rob personal information by mimicking online retailers and corporate websites, EarthLink's ScamBlocker enables consumers to evaluate the safety level of every site they visit, thus helping to protect them from online fraud.
EarthLink is the first major ISP to develop and openly distribute a free phishing-blocking feature to all Internet users.
