TMCnet.com (www.tmcnet.com) announced on November 3 that Copernic (www.copernic.com) and its international business development partner Contraco initiated a European market penetration strategy by announcing German, French and Dutch versions of the award-winning Copernic Desktop Search (www.copernic.com/en/products/desktop-search) product, with an Italian version soon to follow.
CDS enables users to instantly search their personal files, emails and attachments as well as pictures, music and videos. Using a streamlined, intuitive user interface, CDS performs sub-second searching of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, Acrobat PDF's, all popular music, picture and video formats, contacts, browser history, and favorites. With seven separate technology patents pending, CDS represents the state of the art in desktop search design.
CDS works with Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP and Internet Explorer 5.0 or later. All languages can be downloaded for free from www.copernic.com. Copernic continues to outmaneuver both Microsoft and Google in the battle for desktop search supremacy, as Google Desktop Search is only available in English and Microsoft has yet to launch its new desktop search product. Copernic recently announced CDS 1.1, which allows users to experience a more refined search, thanks to performance optimizations, new customization options, user interface improvements and better compatibility.
David M. Burns, Copernic CEO, said that Copernic is already a strong search brand in Europe, that Copernic’s goal is to quickly outperform the success of Copernic Agent, which has been downloaded by more than 15 million users across Europe, and that Copernic’s strategic partnerships in both Europe and Asia will solidify Copernic's position as the clear alternative to Google and Microsoft in the desktop search market.
Frank Meltke, CEO of Contraco, a Copernic distribution partner for Europe and Asia, said that having CDS available in key European core languages enables Contraco to meet the needs of the leading European Internet portals and ISP's, and that with Korean and other Asian language versions of CDS in the pipeline, Copernic can turn its focus to broadband markets in Korea and Japan.
