The Nassau Suffolk Landscape Gardeners Association inadvertently allowed its domain name www.nslga.net to expire. In just a few days, a website offering a variety of pornographic content appeared at the expired domain name.
Patricia Voges, administrative director of the association, who unsuccessfully tried to contact the owners of the new website, said that she received calls from concerned members, organizations and magazines that linked to the site of the association. The association has registered the domain www.nslga.org to resolve the embarrassing situation.
The phone number provided by the owner of the pornographic website was not working and e-mails to the provided contact address received no reply. The address www.nslga.net currently displays a blank page to the relief of the gardeners association as well as the Nova Scotia Ladies Golf Association, which owns the domain name www.nslga.com.
A representative of the golf association said that several of its members have also come across the porn site in the recent weeks, but instead of getting upset, laughed at the situation. The representative of the golf association said that the confusion would not matter by the end of the year since the organization would merge with the men’s golf association.
