The Malaysian country code top-level domain manager MYNIC (www.mynic.net.my) announced on May 31 plans to provide the second-level .my domain name space to the public that will shorten the existing third-level domain name structure. This allows for domain names to be simplified from .com.my to .my.
MYNIC and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) are inviting Malaysians to submit their comments on a public consultation paper. The paper entitled ‘Reintroducing Second Level ‘.my’ Domain Name Space’ can be found on both the MYNIC (www.mynic.net.my) and MCMC (www.mcmc.gov.my) websites.
MYNIC manager Shariya Haniz Zulkifli said that MYNIC encourages all interested parties to raise issues pertinent to them and that it would be most useful if these were substantiated with rationales, examples and alternative proposals.
