1&1 Internet (www.oneandone.com), a web hosting provider and domain name registrar, announced on June 28, 2004 that it offers .us domain names at a promotional price of $2.99 per year. In addition, existing .us domains can be transferred to 1&1 for $2.99 in the two-month promotional period. The company said that the domain package included e-mail and website forwarding and complete DNS management and could be used with any of the company’s hosting plans.
Andreas Gauger, CEO of 1&1 Internet, said that the company continued to see an overwhelming response to its services in the US. He stated that 1&1 Internet’s ability to offer the .us domain at a price far lower than what others charge provided customers with a new option when considering and creating their web presence. Gauger noted that the low-cost availability of the .us domain was just one example of the value 1&1 Internet provided to its customers. He added that between the flexibility and affordability of the packages that the company offered and the novelty of the newly available .us domain, 1&1 Internet anticipated this special summer offer would bring even more users into the company’s growing fold.
